Greenpeople organised a documentary film festival screening 5 major works Indian docu-legend Gopal Menon. The films showcasing the other side of silence of the oppressed brought out some little known aspects of the celebrated Indian democracy.
The show started with the much acclaimed 'Hey Ram'- a heart rending documentation of the communal riots in Gujarat. Then there was Resilient Rhythms on the plight of the Dalits in india which brings forth the unimaginable agony y endure in India even after '62 years of freedom'. Naga story: the other side of Silence, a crafty work on the Naga issue is comprehensive rendering of the much misunderstood story of the Naga people. PAPA-2 is a shocking revelation of Indian military activity and anti terror operations in Kashmir valley. Then the different voice on the buzz word of our times: Maoist extremism. the documentary -War On People-depicts the ground realities in the Red Corridor.
