The ADB; how they help our environment clean!

The Asian Development Bank continues to fund thermal power plants which threaten to poison local communities and dump huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. These plants use Coal as the fuel. Risks due to the impacts of climate change are a fact that the ADB itself acknowledges. Unfortunately, in reality the ADB's practice is quite the opposite. Clean alternatives to fossil fuel power in Asia are widely available. THE ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK is at a historical crossroads: the bank can either fight climate change, or it can fund it. By driving the massive uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency programs in the Asia Pacific, the ADB can play a leading role in stemming dangerous climate change and sparing Asia’s poorest from the worst impacts. Or, the ADB can continue to fund huge increases in coal consumption and thereby negate its avowed mission of promoting sustainable development and poverty alleviation.
